Renewing our Craft: Reimagining Learning and Course Design
A year-Long Fellowship for Year 5+ Vanguard University Faculty
After years of dedicated service in the classroom, even seasoned educators benefit from a structured season of pedagogical renewal. Renewing the Craft invites faculty (Year 5+) into a year-long fellowship designed to reinvigorate your vocational calling and refresh your course architecture. Grounded in our institutional mission, this cohort meets monthly over lunch (September–April) to discuss Ken Bain’s Super Courses, exploring innovative ways to foster deep learning. The program culminates in May with a 3-day post-commencement design intensive using L. Dee Fink’s Creating Significant Learning Experiences framework.
Participants will dialogue with peers to overhaul at least two courses, ready to deliver by fall 2027. Estimated total commitment (including reading, seat time, and course design work) is 81 hours across the year. A professional development stipend is provided upon full completion of the program and course submissions. Space is limited.
