Academic Program Reviews are a crucial part of ensuring educational effectiveness. Vanguard’s 6-year program reviews facilitate program’s thoughtful reflection on program outcomes and for external consultation on key program strength and challenges. These reviews help support program health, currency, and vitality.
To complete the program review process, programs:
- Conduct a self-study that includes a quantitative and qualitative data review, a contextual analysis, and a strategic visioning.
- Benchmark the program against similar academic programs at other institutions
- Review program enrollment, graduation, and alumni data
- Gather and analyze information on students’ experiences in the program
- Participate in an external review by a colleague from the academic discipline
- Develop an action plan based on findings from the program review
The program review will inform decisions made by the Dean, the Provost, and university decision-making bodies about allocating resources, including space, equipment and materials, and staff and faculty positions.
