Dr. Austring has been at Vanguard for 18 years and teaches Intercultural Studies (Missions) and Religion classes in both the undergrad program and in Professional Studies.  He has a PhD from the School of Intercultural Studies at Biola University.  Dr. Austring's main area of study has been the cultural adjustment of people, particularly missionaries, moving from one cultural context to another and how that impacts and informs their Christian walk and ministry.   He is a former missionary to Latin America, pastor and was voted Faculty of the Year in 2011 by the undergraduate student body.
