Dr. Stephen Moore
Assistant Professor, Library
Stephen Moore is no stranger to Vanguard, having served in various full time and adjunct capacities for over a decade. He is now an Assistant Professor in the Library, where he supports library operations with a special focus on archives. He also teaches history courses in the Department of History and Political Science. Stephen earned his Ph.D. in History from the University of California, Riverside, where his dissertation explored the connections between mid-twentieth-century folk revivalism and Cold War political culture. His research interests include U.S. political and popular culture, archival practice, oral history, and public history. He has conducted research at the Woody Guthrie Archive in Tulsa and the Robert Shelton Collection at the University of Liverpool, and has presented his work at the American Historical Association and other conferences. Stephen has a heart for the archives as a place that exhibits a praxis of access and community care. Outside of academia, he enjoys playing guitar, participating in musical theater with his family, hiking, camping, and exploring film.
