Haley Browning

Assistant Professor

Haley Browning is an assistant professor and simulation lab coordinator in the Nursing Department at Vanguard University. Haley is dedicated to guiding students in both the theoretical and practical aspects of nursing care. Drawing on her experience in simulation and her background as a Certified Pediatric Hematology Oncology Nurse (CPHON), she strives to create a fun, safe, and supportive learning environment where students feel free to explore, make mistakes, and grow from those experiences. Haley’s expertise informs her teaching across multiple courses, including pediatrics, fundamentals of nursing, and medical-surgical nursing. Haley integrates her faith within the discipline of nursing by supporting her students in honoring the dignity and humanity in all patients.  Haley earned her Master of Science in Nursing Education from Capella University and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Azusa Pacific University. Haley is passionate about exploring how simulation-based education can serve as a bridge to support graduating nursing students in their transition to professional practice as new graduate nurses.  Haley lives in Long Beach with her husband, Kevin, and 3-year-old son, Bodhi.  Kevin and Haley started dating in high school and just celebrated their 10-year wedding anniversary. Haley loves doing anything outdoors with her family, such as hiking, camping, and going to the beach. Haley also enjoys taking an occasional backpacking trip, which often reinvigorates her gratitude for everyday luxuries, such as flushing toilets, coffee that isn’t made from powder, and memory foam pillows!
