The library is ready to provide the resources your students need to continue their development as curious and creative lifelong learners!
We need your help! There are three ways you can help the library (and save your students a few dollars):
- Request Course Reserves. The library can set aside high-demand books and place them on reserve at the circulation desk. Read the instructions and fill out the Course Reserve Request Form before the semester begins. Be sure to double-check that the correct items are available to your students—especially if you have recently updated your syllabi.
- Adopt Open Access Content. Each year high-quality textbooks, reference materials, and journals are published in “open” formats. While these resources do not cost the University or your students any money, they are often high-quality and peer-reviewed (if you know where to look). For an overview of helpful places to find open content, check the library’s Guide to Open Access Resources!
- Take Advantage of Fair Use. Do not shy away from providing electronic content in Canvas or using media resources in your classrooms. As an educator, you can exercise “fair use” of copyrighted materials ethically and legally. Be sure to check out the Course Reserves: Copyright Resources Guide for guidelines and links to interactive tools to evaluate whether your intended use is “fair use.”
As always, if you have any questions or need assistance, please contact the library staff by email or through our online “Ask-A-Librarian” form. Of course, we would love for you to stop by for a chat.
Thank you for your ongoing investment in our students!
