With all the changes that autumn brings, we are seeing an exciting one in our department of Teaching and Learning! Vanguard is delighted to welcome Dr. Joanna Schiestl as our new Associate Director of Teaching and Learning.
Although Joanna is new to Vanguard, she brings a wealth of experience from her decades in education. Her professional background includes educational instruction, with expertise spanning program development, curricular design, experiential learning, and so much more. And after first hearing about Vanguard years ago from one of our alumni, she’s now officially joined our community.
Dr. Schiestl earned her doctorate in Educational Leadership from Cal Poly Pomona and her master’s in Intercultural Studies from Columbia International University. In her new role, she will draw on both her education and extensive experience to oversee systems that streamline divisional operations in support of the university’s people, places, and pedagogy. Joanna is excited to bring her trademark approach to Vanguard, which she summarizes as “having fun and getting things done.” All of us in Teaching and Learning are thrilled to welcome Joanna and look forward to seeing the impact she’ll make.
