Create Recorded Powerpoint Presentation Assignments

There are many cases where you would like your students to create presentations within Microsoft Powerpoint, and record those presentations for submission within Canvas. While T+L Studios is available for use for faculty/staff to create these presentations and much more, students are encouraged to use one of the following options to record these:

Option 1 – Record with Canvas Studio

This option makes it easy for students to (once the Powerpoint presentation is created) record, edit, and submit their quality presentations all from within Canvas.

Option 2 – Record with Powerpoint

This option makes it easy for students to create their Powerpoint presentations and record them from within Powerpoint. Students would then need to upload their recorded presentations to Canvas Studio to enable them to submit it as an assignment in Canvas.

*It is highly recommended that students choose one these two options to record and upload their presentations. Completed video files can be very large and can create unnecessary challenges if they are required to upload video files directly to an assignment as an attachment.

Assignment Options

Once these videos are in Canvas Studio, students can embed these videos as a submission to the following types of assignments:

Submit to a File Upload Assignment

Submit to a Text Entry Assignment

Submit to a Discussion

Microsoft Office Access

If students have not downloaded Microsoft Office to their computer yet (free access is a benefit of being a student at VU), they can install these programs on up to five of their devices by logging into the VU Portal with their VU credentials and clicking on the ‘Install and More’ tab in the top right corner of the homepage.
